Lighting Up the Upper West Side Holiday Tree
This is the inaugural ceremony of the festival of Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square. The ceremony takes place right before the festival officially begins. The Tree Lighting Ceremony is organized at Dante Park. As the main enactment of the Tree Lighting Ceremony, Micky Dolenz from the rock band The Monkees, is going to perform. The Monkees scored four billboard chart-topping albums and numerous hit top 20 singles. The primary hosts of WABC-TV and other special guests will also attend the ceremony during the Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square. Last year, the main act of this Upper West Side Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony was performed by American funk and soul singer, Sharon Jones, who was later joined by American Idol and Broadway star Justin Guarini.
The 27-ft tall tree will be installed prior to the event by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. The lights used in this ceremony will be donated by Lowe’s Home Improvement. More than 30 eateries of Lincoln Square will bring up their creations during the Winter’s Eve festival. Some of the foods that are readied for tasting includes lamb kebabs, chicken pot pies, gnocchi, and hot soups.
