What Hair Removal Method is Best for You?

Yay! Summer is finally here and with summer comes the joys of hair removal (NOT)! You may find yourself frustrated when it comes to finding the best method to remove those unwanted leg, arm, underarm, and bikini/pubic hairs. There are several different ways to get rid of that unwanted hairs, but which method is best? Which one hurts the least? Each method has its pros and cons, so your personal needs will help you determine the best methods for you!

Shaving is the most popular form of hair removal. It’s probably the first form of hair removal you tried. Its quick, easy, cost-effective, relatively painless, and can be done at home easily. Although, removing pubic hairs by shaving may not be the best idea as it can cause ingrown hairs if not done properly. Another downside of shaving is that it doesn’t last long. For some, the results of shaving only last for a day or so before the hair starts growing back. So annoying! If you don’t mind doing it frequently shaving might be best for you.

Hair Removal Creams

Like shaving, using hair removal creams are quick, easy, cost-effective, painless, and can be done at home. The lasting time is similar to shaving, which means those hairs will be growing back rather quickly. These are a great alternative if you are not a fan of shaving. However, these creams are known to have chemicals that are not the best if you’re trying to go for a more natural approach to hair removal. Be sure to only use these creams for the time directed and on the areas they are intended for. It is not a good idea to use bikini/pubic hair removal on your face!

Although waxing can be pretty painful, the benefits may be worth the temporary pain. Waxes normally last three to six weeks and can be done at home or professionally. There are also different approaches to waxing: soft waxes (ex. pre-made strips) and hard waxes that are used without strips. Sugaring is a natural form of waxing using sugar, lemon juice, honey, and water. It can be made in hard and soft wax forms. The results are normally the same as your traditional wax. In most cases, when the hair does grow back from waxing it grows back thinner and weaker. Waxing very rarely causes irritation if done correctly. It’s a great alternative to shaving if you can handle a little pain, and it offers great options for natural hair removal.

Laser Hair Removal

The last method of hair removal we will go over today is laser hair removal. I know it sounds scary (and as you can probably imagine it is not pain-free), but if you are fed up with your unwanted hair you may feel this is the last resort! Laser hair removal is the most expensive method of the four we have listed. It may even take four to six sessions before you get your desired results. This is known as the most permanent method of hair removal as It normally lasts for six to twelve months.
