Country Roads To The Academy of Country Music Awards 2018

There was fire in their eyes, a flash in their teeth, a swing in their waist and the joy in their feet! Such was the 53rd Academy of Country Music award 2018 hosted on Sunday, the 15th of April. Las Vegas was all about the style of country that day, in the Garden Arena at the MGM Grand. The event in a nutshell, was about the best of country music and the best of fashion.

The 53rd ACM Awards was star filled! Artists, media, fans, and performers flocked this event which was spent in all pomp. The award show had moved into the Sin city in 2003 and has been held there ever since with the exception in the year 2015. Dance, music, giggles, and laughter were common sightings at this event. But what made the event special and talk-worthy was the return of two most exquisite performers, Carrie Underwood and Reba McEntire.

Reba McEntire has been the former host of this specific event many times before. She had first hosted the show in 1986 accompanied by Mac Davis and John Schneider. The same trend followed by 1999 and went well into 2012. Finally, the honors were taken up from McEntire in 2010 and passed onto Luke Bryan. Naturally, her return as the host for the 53rd ACM Awards was a matter of huge celebration. To add yet another feather to the festive spirit was the return of the Carrie Underwood, who performed for the first time since she had suffered a serious injury to her face.

The event was that of an emotional melting pot. But before going any further, let's get to know two of these strong, beautiful and bold women to whom this event and this blog is dedicated.

Gliding On A Broken Wing:

The Oklahoma beauty got her first whiff of stardom on winning the American Idol Season 4. Her multi-platinum debut “Some Hearts” bagged in multiple Grammys, CMA and also the ACM awards. A singer, a songwriter, a silver screen icon, and most importantly a very strong woman, Carrie Underwood!!

Born to a simple family, Underwood spent her childhood days in bliss. During her senior year in 2004, Carrie went in for the audition of American Idol. Alas, she did not pass the auditions, but ended up winning the Title in the fourth season!

Her album “Some Hearts” became the fastest selling female country music album since the introduction of Neilsen SoundScan in 1991. Following this, her success knew no bounds. Single solo tracks like “Jesus, Take the Wheels, and “Before He Cheats” won multiple hearts. In the year 2008, Underwood was inducted into Ole Opry by Garth Brooks making her theyoungest star in the celebrated institution.

In the same year, Underwood bagged the Female Vocalist of the year award for the third time in the CMA awards. So went on and on her stories of victory and fame, adding more feathers to her hat of success.

On the year 2013, it was made public that Carrie Underwood would part take in the WeeklySunday Night Football theme song. At the same time, she reappeared on the TV with Stephen Moyer in retelling the “Sound Of Music”.

A bolt came from the blue when Underwood met with an accident at her residence and incurred a broken wrist, cuts, abrasion and a scar on her face. The star had to go through a painful time with 40-50 stitches put on her face. But the pain and the physical suffering was no match for the celeb who was determined to make 2018 rock. Thus she came back to take on the reigns of the ACM award getting her audience in an emotional whirlpool with her heartwarming performance.

Her audience fell into an unbeatable cheer as Carrie took the floor for the most awaited performance. Even though the star had suffered a major injury to her face a few months backs, there was not a hint of a scar on Underwood’s face.Dressed in a black and silver sequenced?short dress with glitter tear eye makeup, Underwood kept her promise of rocking 2018!

Hey Cinderella!

Another Oklahoma beauty, Reba McEntire got her first break after singing the National Anthem in the Rodeo Finals. Red Steagall was the audience for her first performance. Impressed by her singing, Steagall helped Reba record her demo which eventually got her a contract with Mercury.

McEntire has?recorded?with Mercury and MCA records and has topped the charts multiple times. Bagging the best vocalist award in the Country Music Association numerous times, Reba has also acted in multiple films and has starred her own sitcom called “Reba”.

Not only does the celebrity stick to singing alone, she has also launched her own line of clothing and accessories. Throughout the late 70’s, Reba spent most of her time recording singles in studios. However, none of these songs topped the charts. But little did she know that success was just around the corner.

The desired and much-awaited success came to Reba in 1980 with the song “You Lift Me Up (To heaven). But the massive success did not take Reba away from her roots. For her style in most shoots and stage performances, she stuck to the rodeo girl theme. With the ongoing days, her singing style went through a serious transformation which was also reflected in her style statements.

McEntire bagged her first Grammy Award as the best female country performance with her 9th album Whoever’s in New England.  The album owes its credit to the unique blend of music, the twangy traditional touch of McEntire’s voice; coupled with a pop angle.

From the very early days, Reba understood the importance of music videos and made use of them on a wide scale in her albums. McEntire won the “Female Vocalist of the Year” as well “Entertainer of the Year Award”

McEntire, the hostess of the 53rd ACM awards 2018 made her audience take a walk down memory lane as she set the floor on fire with her 1993 hit “Does he love you”. This song was made a part of the “ACM Flashbacks” which comprised of a series of hit songs from the history of country music.

Not only did the musical hostess set the floor on fire with her ravishing performance, she brought in a fresh breeze of style. The 63-year-old country beauty appeared on the red carpets of the ACM award event in a stunning white fringed gown. As a woman of style and fashion, Reba accessorized her perfect white with crystal drop earrings letting her fancy red hair fall in loose curls. The perfect dash of fashion to the perfect musical night!

A lion’s share of any celebrity’s public image comprises of what they wear. Be it a gala or an award function, a public icon must look enthralling at all times. The credit of conjuring such a look does not go to the celeb alone. A major share of the contribution is made by the designers, hair stylist, makeup artists, and the image consultants.
